Topeka Scarecrows Bring Back Dynamic Duo, Re-Sign Trevor Grasby And Rookie Of The Year Jacob Gagnon

The Topeka Scarecrows continue to build on the foundation of a successful inaugural season by announcing the re-signings of veteran forward Trevor Grasby and rookie of the year Jacob Gagnon for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Grasby quickly became one of the club's most impactful players after joining the Scarecrows during the 2025-26 campaign. In just 35 games with Topeka, the veteran forward recorded 11 goals and 26 assists for 37 points, while adding 26 penalty minutes and finishing with a +3 rating. His vision, playmaking ability, and veteran leadership helped spark the Scarecrows' offense down the stretch and made him a key piece of the team's forward group.

"Trevor made an immediate impact from the moment he arrived in Topeka," said General Manager Robbie Nichols. "His hockey IQ, ability to create offense, and professionalism elevated everyone around him. He's the type of player you win with, and we're excited to have him back in a Scarecrows sweater."

The Scarecrows also welcome back one of the league's brightest young stars in Jacob Gagnon, who earned Rookie of the Year honors following an outstanding first full professional season.

Gagnon appeared in 55 games, finishing with 17 goals and 25 assists for 42 points, while adding 73 penalty minutes. His combination of offensive production, physical play, and relentless compete level quickly made him a fan favorite and one of the league's most difficult players to match up against.

"Jacob had an incredible rookie season and earned every bit of the recognition he received," Nichols added. "He competes every shift, plays with passion, and has the ability to change a game in multiple ways. We believe his best hockey is still ahead of him, and we're thrilled he'll continue that development here in Topeka."

The return of Grasby and Gagnon gives the Scarecrows two proven offensive weapons as the organization continues preparing for its second season in Topeka. With a blend of veteran leadership and emerging talent, the club continues to assemble a roster capable of competing for a Commissioner’s Cup championship.
