Black Bears Show Dominance End Scarecrows Season, 6-2

Topeka traveled the long distance to Binghamton,NY for game 2 of the first round. The Scarecrows fell at home on Wednesday 4-3, but showed heart in the final period of that game. As they look to keep their playoff hopes alive and moving forward it will be up to the team to find scoring up and down the lineup in front of the backstopping of Sammy Bernard. Binghamton looks to move on to semifinals for the third time in three seasons.

As the game got underway it took just 6:24 into the game for CJ Stubbs to find the back of the net as Mac Jensen tossed the puck to the front and the double clutch beat Sammy Bernard for the 1-0 lead. 3:20 later Stubbs was back at it again as another Jansen shot was deflected to Stubbs for the tap in and a 2-0 lead. Late in the first with just 24 seconds to go Zac Sirota deflected a Daniel Stone shot past Bernard for the 3-0 advantage.

The Black Bears continued to hammer away as just 2:09 into the second Gehrett Sargis took a pass from Zac Sirota and fired it past Bernard to make it a 4-0 advantage. Topeka found some offense at the tail end of the period though as with 45 seconds to go Trevor Grasby found Trevor Lord open in the slot and Lord fired it over Dominik Tmej's glove to close the gap to 4-1.

Topeka notched the next goal 8:03 into the this as Jacob Gagnon took a Scott Coash pass and. raced in firing one from the top of the circle to beat Tmej to close the gap to 4-2. Just 29 seconds later though Tyson Kirkby responded for a 5-2 lead for Binghamton.With the goalie pulled Jesse Anderson fired home an empty netter from 200 feet away to end the Scarecrows season 6-2.

Bernard stopped 41 of 46 in the loss.
